Here is an expanded list of pet foods recalled (as of April 5). The foods contain melamine, a plasticizer that contaminated wheat gluten, an ingredient of pet foods. It can cause kidney failure and has already killed several animals.
Recall linkMore recalled pet food - some Royal Canin U.S. products (don't know if this is what is sold at Melo, or if that Royal Canin comes from someplace else). The Chinese company that contaminated the wheat and rice gluten did it deliberately. It turns out they added melamine to make the gluten appear to have a higher protein content. Melamine contains nitrogen, which is the indicator chemical that labs use to test for protein content.
