We will be moving to Boquete within the next year and have a dog with Addisions Disease requiring him to take a daily pill of "Fludrocortisone 0.6mg". We are currently getting the drug from a compounding pharmacist in South Carolina. Does anyone know if this drug can be obtained in Panama?

There is a veterinarian that is from the USA and will be returning to Boquete next month to practice here. He speaks English which is a real plus here.
I will ask him by email if he wants to correspond with you about your medication needs.

Also, how do you plan on bringing your dog into Boquete? Do you know about all the requirements to do so? You have a 10 day window to achive a lot in the USA before you arrive in Boquete and you will need to have a Panamanian veterinarian meet you when you arrive with your dog. Also, do you know about home quaratine after your arrival here?

We can give you the name of a very reliable dog broker that speaks english that will make your entry here with your dog a smooth process. His prices are very reasonable.

Hope this information will be of help to you and your best friend.

Thank you for your response. We do not know about the quarantine and meeting a vet. If you notify the vet that will be Boquete that would be much appreciated. Also, names of the dog broker.

As the time approaches we can have this information on file.

Thanks, Becky

Please see the thread "Bringing pets into Panama". There are a lot of hoops you have to jump through, and you need to be prepared with the right paperwork. The thread will tell you what you need. The 'dog broker' is Jose Saenz, and all his contact information is also in that thread. The vet you need to see is at Tocumen Airport in the animal quarantine area. There is nothing you need to do to see this vet; just be there. If you get in after hours, your dog will be held in the airport quarantine until morning when the vet shows up at about 8:30.
