Does anyone know of an animal rights organization in Panama like the A.S.P.C.A. in the U.S.?

It is Fundacion Humanitas. Here is an article about them and a link to their website.

Thanks for you reply but I was looking for a strictly Panamanian enterprise (one that could investigate and hold accountable those that abuse animals).

Fundacion Humanitas is a strictly Panamanian enterprise. They don't have enforcement authority, but they are advocates for animals and probably know if there is anybody in Panama who does have authority. There is an email contact on their website.

There is a new law that gives government authorities the right to confiscate abused and neglected animals. We at Amigos de Animales Boquete have been trying to get a copy of this law, but have been unsuccessful so far. The problem is, if you find the right agency and report abuse, there are no shelters to house rescued animals and no official dog catchers to go and get them. The govt. officials might give you authority to pick the animal up, but after that, you are on your own.

At PARADISE GARDENS in Volcancito we rescue native wild animals (Licenced by ANAM) and we are slowly building a network of people who can accept these poor creatures after rescue if we cannot keep them here. We also have landowners willing to offer safe haven when we can re-introduce back to the wild, which do regularly. We do not take dogs or cats but we can accept birds.
